Bible Quiz, more than any other event, reflects the value that we place upon the Word of God and memorization.  Teams compete to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the material they have learned in their handbooks.  I'd like to share some hints and helps for preparing your teams for Bible Quiz.

The questions will be as straight forward as possible.  We will ask questions that address the following issues:

  1. Memorization - Do they know the verses?
  2. References - Can they connect the verse with its reference?
  3. Comprehension - Do they know what the verses mean?
  4. Definitions - Do they know the meaning of the words that have been defined in the handbook?
  5. Questions & Answers - Can they provide the answers to the questions that have been asked in their book?  (For example: Why did God give us the Bible?)

When helping quizzers study, keep these five types of questions in mind.  When writing questions for Bible Quiz, we are not looking for obscure facts to trip up the quizzers.  There is a strong possibility that each group will be asked to supply  a list of the answers to their book's questions.

Sample Question -   Give two answers to this question: Why did God give us the Bible?
Answer: God Gave us the Bible so we could learn about people from the past, God Gave us the Bible so we can know we are sinners.  (Any of the eight answers will suffice to answer this question.)

Most importantly, as your quizzers prepare, be sure that each practice is a fun time that encourages them in their walk with God.  Remind them often that the real prize is God's Word, deeply imbedded in their hearts.
